Power Portal

Connecting with Your Ancestors

Conversation & Workshop
with Tracee Stanley & Felicia Cocotzin Ruiz

REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED

Event Description

Working with the cosmic collective within your family can be a daily ritual and practice. Using a physical space created just for your ancestors can inspire you each morning to slow down and give reference to those who came before us—all while helping to harness your creative energy. Working with your ancestor altar can also be integral in supporting your process of healing generational trauma.

Join us to learn how to build your very own power portal. In this special 90-minute workshop, Tracee will welcome special guest Felicia Cocotzin Ruiz, who will offer a discussion (with show and tell!) on creating your own ancestor altar to activate the power of your lineage.

About Felicia Cocotzin Ruiz

Felicia Cocotzin Ruiz is a native Arizonan, living in one of the most edible and medicinal landscapes in the world. Following her family’s lineage, Felicia began training as a curandera (medicine woman) in her early twenties, working in cafes and coffee shops to make ends meet. Eventually Felicia would find success as a restaurateur, and later join over twenty-five years of Indigenous healing practices with food as medicine.

Recognized for her work with Indigenous foodways and decolonizing wellness, Felicia is passionate about sharing food and lifestyle as medicine across many platforms. Her award-winning book, Earth Medicines: Ancestral Wisdom, Healing Recipes, and Wellness Rituals from a Curandera, has received praise from industry leaders including Padma Lakshmi, Dana Cowin, and Darin Olien. Felicia’s work has been featured in Spirituality & Health, Forbes, Bon Appétit, and several other media outlets including The Original Americans episode on Padma Lakshmi’s Taste The Nation (Hulu). Felicia presents frequently around the country on traditional healing practices, culinary medicine, holistic wellness, and Native American food sovereignty for nonprofits, universities, and museums–including the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian.
